NASCAR Race In LA: A Wet ‘N Wild Weekend Recap with Spins, Drama, and Fast Cars

NASCAR Race In LA Ah, another Monday morning where the remnants of a wild Sunday NASCAR race hangover linger faintly. Been eagerly awaiting this feeling again for months!

Oh wait, scratch that. Today I’m feeling surprisingly fresh. It was yesterday morning that I experienced that familiar sensation because, well, in classic NASCAR fashion, nothing ever goes smoothly.

If this weekend is any indication of what’s to come this season, we might be in for quite a ride, folks.

I mean, seriously, could the timing have been any more perfect for the entire state of California to be threatened by the storm of the century on the first Sunday of the 2024 NASCAR season? Classic.

Credit where it’s due, though. The folks making the big decisions surprisingly nailed it this time. That’s a rare occurrence, so maybe this year won’t be as tumultuous as we anticipate.

Chase Elliott, picking up right where he left off this weekend (read: wrecking), hailed moving the race up by a full 24 hours as the smartest decision NASCAR has ever made. Ever! Can’t believe he didn’t credit the decision to lean into the whole DEI thing. Weird, right?

So, what else do we want to dissect today? Bubba Wallace’s slick spin followed by a smooth exit to beat the LA traffic? Absolutely. Tall Joey Logano little-boying tiny Ty Gibbs? You bet. Maybe OnlyFans racer Natalie Decker dropping a major (and potentially devastating) update on her OnlyFans page? Of course!

Sam Busch will make an appearance too, because any day ending in ‘y’ is a Samantha Busch day.

Alright, let’s dive in. Four tires, a submarine to rescue the folks from flooded California, and perhaps a gentle push in the right direction for OnlyFans Natalie… Monday Morning Pit-Stop – the ‘Wet ’N Wild’ edition – is LIVE!

Joey Logano and Ty Gibbs kicked off the season with a bang.

Might as well start with the post-race fireworks, huh? Three months is a long time to wait, so let’s not hold back.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr NASCAR Clash: Frustration and Intensity at the Coliseum

Ty Gibbs had the strongest car Saturday night, led laps aplenty, and probably deserved the win. But, as usual, late cautions shuffled the field and left him in some precarious positions.

Interestingly, it wasn’t even Logano who wrecked him! However, the two duked it out for the lead all night, and it seems Joey wasn’t too thrilled about that kind of racing.

Bubba Wallace pulls off a spin and an exit strategy to beat LA traffic.

Firstly, how about Erik Jones? That might be the funniest thing he’s ever said, which isn’t saying much, but still – A+ comment. We need more of that energy this year, big fella. Well done.

Secondly, STAY OFF THE LIFT GATE, GUYS! Please, for the love of God, stay off the darn lift gate.

Thirdly (and finally?), I think I’m #TeamTinyTy here. Did you see that race? The only way to pass is by basically pushing the car in front of you up the track and out of the way. That’s it.

When it’s a one-groove short track, you’re bound to get your rear-end launched into orbit. Who else was fuming after the NASCAR exhibition race?

Honestly, Bubba makes a good point. How did he manage to finish 12th? He didn’t even finish! But I appreciate the move from him – didn’t bother trying to straighten her out to finish the lap. Nope. Just bailed and headed for the hills before the rain.

Side note: Remember that time Bubba intentionally wrecked Kyle Larson during the playoffs and then hopped out of his car in the middle of the infield to start throwing punches? Insane.

Anyway, while we didn’t witness that on Saturday (sadly), there were definitely some hurt feelings after a couple of hours of NASCAR carnage.

How about Michael McDowell saying he just wanted to finish 15th or 10th? Hilarious? What? Who cares?!

No clue if McDowell actually said that, but if he did, I’m glad Ricky punted him into the sun. Read the room for me just once, Mike.

You know who else was ticked off on Saturday? The 12 people who actually showed up to the last-minute race. A couple of elite NASCAR WAGs had a couple of elite weekends.

I’m thrilled Denny Hamlin has continued to be an absolute jerk this season. I was worried he might dial it back a bit, but nope – full throttle, baby!

No, I haven’t watched the new Netflix series yet. I’m not that loaded. I’ll probably stream it illegally at some point soon, like the rest of blue-collar America.

But I heard he was a star, and I’m not surprised. Every sport needs a villain, and Denny fits that role perfectly.

Alright, that’s enough from LA. Back to the offseason (for one week), which means back to Samantha Busch and McCall Gaulding. Fine! We’ll also check in with Erika Anne Turner – Ross Chastain’s model girlfriend who doubles as a Monster girl.
