Derek Kraus Joins Kaulig Racing 2024 Cup Team_ Former NASCAR Truck Series competitor Derek Kraus is gearing up for his debut in the Cup Series, courtesy of Kaulig Racing. Behind the wheel of the #16 Western States Flooring Chevy, Kraus will tackle the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 3, with plans for five more race weekends ahead.
A familiar face in the Kaulig Racing stable for over a year, Kraus showcased his talent in eight Xfinity Series starts last season. Securing three top-10 finishes, the 22-year-old’s impressive journey saw him clinch eighth place at both Martinsville and Kansas.
Expressing his anticipation for the upcoming Cup Series venture, Kraus extended his gratitude to Kaulig Racing executives Matt Kaulig and Chris Rice for the invaluable opportunity.

Following his debut in Las Vegas, Kraus will resume his duties behind the wheel of the #16 Chevy for several races, including the events at Kansas Speedway, Darlington Speedway, World Wide Technology Raceway, and both races at Phoenix Raceway.
Kaulig Racing has been active in the off-season, expanding its roster with multiple drivers. A.J. Allmendinger, Shane van Gisbergen, and Josh Williams were previously announced as part-time drivers for the #16 Chevy. Former Trackhouse Racing crew chief Travis Mack is set to lead the team atop the pit box.
Notably, Derek Kraus previously substituted for A.J. Allmendinger in the #16 Chevy at Richmond Raceway last year while Allmendinger was competing in the Xfinity Series at Road America.
Kaulig Racing President, Chris Rice, is eagerly anticipating Derek Kraus’s presence behind the wheel of the #16 Chevy. Rice underlined Kraus’s substantial contributions behind the scenes, particularly his valuable work in the simulator.

Despite his limited experience in the Xfinity series, Derek Kraus boasts ample seat time in the Truck Series, completing three full-time seasons for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing. Although victory has eluded him so far, he achieved a commendable second-place finish at Darlington Raceway.
Now, at 22 years old, Kraus is poised to make his Cup debut in the Pennzoil 400 on March 3.
