Kyle Larson Daughter’s Health Condition_ In 2022, Kyle Larson talked about a very private part of his family life: his daughter Audrey’s fight with alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss and pattern baldness. Before this news came out, Larson had kept Audrey’s condition a secret. But he felt compelled to share their story with the public because of the shame and misunderstandings that come with alopecia.
Larson said that Audrey had shown signs of baldness as early as 18 months old, but it took a long time for the family to get a correct diagnosis. During this time, Larson, his wife, and Audrey all had to deal with the emotional and practical problems that came with the situation. Audrey wore a hat or something else to cover her head a lot when she was out in public. Her family did this as a safety measure because they didn’t know what was wrong with her.
Larson was honest about his feelings about what happened and how hard it was for him as a parent to deal with the weight of societal judgment and curiosity, even though he knew Audrey’s situation wasn’t life-threatening. Larson told TobyChristie.com, “I would stress and cry about it because I knew nothing bad was happening to her; she was just losing hair.”

Larson ultimately chose to share Audrey’s story on social media because she wanted more people to know about and understand alopecia. Larson hoped that by talking about their family’s story, they could fight the stigma that surrounds the condition and encourage understanding and support in the NASCAR community and beyond.
In addition to speaking out for his daughter, Larson has also been vocal about other problems in NASCAR, most notably the ongoing debate about engine horsepower. At the moment, NASCAR requires its cars to have 650 horsepower. However, drivers like Larson have asked for more power to be added to the Next Gen cars.
Larson thinks that there is technology that can be used to make engines more powerful without making them very expensive. Larson said that the switch to engines with more horsepower could be done smoothly by citing talks with engine builders and team members. On the Dale Jr. Download podcast, Larson said, “All of these engine builders and teams are saying it’s not going to cost any more to do it.”
Larson is still competitive on the track, and his support for his daughter and knowledge of NASCAR’s technical side show how important he is to the racing community in many ways. Larson has an effect that goes far beyond the race track, whether he’s battling for wins or fighting for good causes.
